i love when something huge happens in a fandom you aren’t a part of it’s like hearing a loud eruptive cheer from the apartment next to you and you can hear the music and the sounds of the party muffled through the wall and you aren’t sure what they’re celebrating but you’re happy for them.
Whenever I see a really off-the-wall take about the beatles I remember this adorable post from an older fan about how they used to play "Beatles" at recess but they were too young to really know who the beatles were so they just played house with British accents and I assume that's what a lot of people on this website are doing as well

NO ONE is too young to know who the beatles were. its important to tell your children about the beatles as soon as they can understand language. My father told me when i turned two that the beatles were four men who sang and played music. over the years he added more details like girls loved the beatles and how some of them died. there is no excuse.
i’m just gonna pretend daft punk was in pacific rim. i’m gonna pretend that they pilot a jaeger called electroma bravo and they blast house music with the kaidonovskys and when stacker shows raliegh around the shatterdome he’s like, “that’s thomas and guy-man. french. they never take their helmets off.”
#i would even believe their jaeger was just called ‘daft punk’ tbh #just for the image of like Battleaxe Triumph or whatever get into trouble and they call back up like ‘deploy Daft Punk!’ #and it had a like a reuters news tickertape display on the outside scrolling like ‘bonjour’ #and then the beat drops and the punching starts
one time i told a guy with a huge punisher decal on his car that i loved the punisher but that i'm too scared to have any of his merch because in the current political climate i wouldn't want people to think i support killing police and the man had. no response whatsoever. he was smiling and completely frozen in place. i'd never seen anyone bluescreen that hard

prev wondering abt the amount of guts it takes to do this: the trick is to come off as incredibly sincere and kinda airheaded. now, crucially, i'm 4'11 and very cute so certain types of people already expect me to fit a very specific character type, and these techniques might not be as effective for others. but that's why i weaponize them on everyone's behalf

UPDATE: SO LATER THAT NIGHT WHEN MY BROTHER GOT HOME FROM WORK (HE IS 6+ YEARS OLDER, MORE PROFICIENT IN FARSI THAN I AM, AND ALSO OFTEN VISITS IRAN), I ASKED HIM WHAT HE THOUGHT THE PERSIAN WORD FOR “REMOTE CONTROL WAS” AND HE ALSO SAID THE WORD!!!!!! AND WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS A FAKE FILLER WORD, HIS FIRST RESPONSE WAS “WOW, WHAT????? SO THEY LIED TO US?????? WHAT ELSE IS FAKE??????? ARE THEY EVEN OUR REAL PARENTS?????”
SO GOOD TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS BETRAYAL.
